What to Buy?

You see them but how are they used? Preen, Osmocote, Miracle Gro, and many other gardening products can be confusing. You can always ask our staff questions, and this class is specifically designed to help take away the stress of deciding which products you need. All gardeners welcome to join us.

Edward Scissorhands
Time: 5:30pm
Location: Sargent’s North
Instructor: Nick Sargent
Topiary evergreens are a beauty to see in the yard. Pruning is necessary to keep the desired shape and with a little help, you’ll become Edward Scissorshands before you know it. Demonstrations will be given on how to trim topiaries, prune hedges, spreading junipers, and other evergreens.

Cooking with Herbs (Pre-registration required)
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Sargent’s North
Fee: $10.00 general public / $8.00 for Rewards Club members
Instructor: Wendy Jasper
Turn those pretty little plants into fine cuisine. Herbs are an excellent way to add flavor, pizzazz, and nutrition to ordinary recipes. Join Wendy as she combines her passion for gardening with her love of cooking, and turns ordinary fare into an extraordinary dinner. Bring a recipe to share, if you like. Fee includes generous tastings of many herb delights.

Harvesting and Preserving Your Herbs
Time: 6:00 p.m.

Basil, chives, and thyme are thriving in your garden. What do you do now? Learn how to harvest your herbs and preserve them for use later in the year. Freezing, drying, and creating herb oils are all ways of preservation, which will be discussed.

Thinking about incorporating water into your landscape? Water gardening can be a scary topic but landscape designers, Polly and Katy, will start you off with great ideas for small ponds and pondless waterfalls which require less maintenance. During this seminar, water gardening essentials will be discussed including location, installation, pumps, filters, liners, ecology and plantings in and around the pond.
