Chilly weather is here! After a warmer vacation to the Mediterranean, the Minnesota weather has been a bit of a shock. As an avid traveler, I enjoy seeing the countryside and how others garden. Sure, magazines are great at showing pictures of different gardens, but you see so much more by visiting places. While touring Greece, it was a sight to see numerous olive and cypress trees throughout the hillsides. Beautiful trees that I would like to grow in my backyard, but we all know that is not going to happen, so I will continue to grow upright arborvitae and junipers to give my garden a Mediterranean flair. The apple trees out in front are a small resemblance to the small, round olive trees, though I’ll continue to buy olives at the grocery store by the gallon. Those olives are now turning into everything for us-olive spreads, olive pestos, and numerous other goodies. I haven’t checked lately, but I know Sargent’s on 2nd has a lot of gourmet food products. During the next few weeks, I’ll be checking out their selection for Christmas goodies and entertaining. Stop in and maybe I’ll see you there. I’ll be the one all bundled up with the jar of olives!
