Weekend Beauty

What a gorgeous weekend to be alive! The Labor Day weekend was composed of great weather, good friends and happy customers!
In the garden, the raccoons have yet to find my sweet corn, but I know they will be around soon as the corn is good, but it is not quite filled out. It's a good thing a friend of mine was up last weekend and supplied me with corn and tomatoes galore! My tomatoes, like many of yours have a terrible blight. It also doesn't help matters too much that I have given up on the weeds surrounding them. Instead of focusing on the garden in the last few weeks, I've been working on finalizing wedding plans. In three weeks the garden will take precedence again. Except those beets, they are always being tended, and I've pickled several batches of those delicious bites! I feel like such a weirdo that I love pickled beets so much. When I was a child and even throughout college, I could not stand them, but now I could eat a whole jar in an afternoon! Am I the only one? Sometimes, I think I'd rather have that than chocolate! Now, that's crazy!
Strange as I am, I don't think I am crazy enough to make my own pumpkin pie from the pumpkins in the garden. There are several monsters in the garden just beginning to show themselves over the plants. As a first time pumpkin grower, I have a lot of pride in those pumpkins and in my sweet corn! And even in the raspberry patch. Yesterday, I harvested a bowl full of raspberries, and my fiance was so impressed they were from my garden! The simple things in life! : )
