New Clematis!

I’ve been so busy dreaming of our perennials this year; I’ve let my garden blog slip! This year at both locations, there will be different signs displaying our perennials. I hope you all will like them. They’re filled with more information than ever!

As I scoured over perennial information, I fell in love with a new clematis we are growing this season. ‘Princess Diana’-she is exquisite and like no other clematis we’ve carried! It is an aggressive vine growing on a trellis or arbor to about eight feet tall. Her flowers open similar to tulips with only four petals and appear dainty among the dark green foliage. The rich pink flowers appear in June and July. They then rebloom in September with a few more blooms. This is a must have for the garden. Get them early, before I buy them all! (I like it that much.) Our website has been updated with the plants we will be carrying this year. Check it out and look up some of the new additions. They're always fun to learn about.

Last night, I was going through my 2009 calendar, and it seems like potato planting time is around the corner. When I saw that I actually planted the first week of April last year, I was overcome by spring fever. It is uncommon for me to get them in that early, and I’m longing to spend some time in the garden. The potato crop was good last year, and I recall also planting sweet potatoes. It was a new experience that was fun to try. My garden produced several good size sweet potatoes on vines that grow just like the ones you plant in your containers. If you have the space, it’s an interesting vegetable to grow.
