With a small drive around town and the country, one can see that Autumn has arrived and starting to show brilliant colors! The sugar maples at Sargent’s North are turning their majestic colors of yellows, reds, and oranges. In my opinion, they are one of the most brilliant trees for fall color. Burning bush will soon be turning brilliant red and those are a show stopper! Among the beautiful fall colors, black eyed susan and stonecrop are in full bloom. They are some of the most popular perennials for fall color. Reed grass is also very popular and for many good reasons. For those of you, who currently have ornamental grasses, enjoy their fall splendor! Snow will pack around the plants and the wind will sway them during the winter. Cut them back next April. If you haven’t planted any grasses, you are in for a treat, because there are many great options to choose from. Stop in, and I’ll help you pick out the best ones for your area. As for me, I enjoy the miscanthus and the reed grass in my gardens. Next year, I’ll hopefully open up another area for more ornamental grasses.
Until next time, happy gardening!
