Those cool season vegetables are now peeking through the ground, and I should have fresh produce for dinner in 4-6 weeks. Radishes and lettuce grow so fast. Did you know that you can plant them in containers? Fill pots with potting soil and plant your seeds, you don’t need a large area to grow your own produce. This is a great project for kids of any age, too. Vegetables are also good fair projects, if you would like to have your kids involved with showing.

My favorites are now planted….herbs! Over the years, I’ve taken a liking to basil, thyme, and other delicious herbs. So easy to grow and fun to add to my cooking. Many are in containers and I’ll be adding a large vegetable and herb garden in the coming of weeks. If you are not sure how to grow herbs, stop in to Sargent’s North on May 27 at 6:00 p.m. I am conducting a short session on how to grow herbs and going to show you a couple things you can do with these awesome delights.
