Thanks for stopping by everyone!
Once again, I’m going to talk about composting, but not before I tell you what I did the other night. With several varieties of cherry tomatoes in my freezer, I thawed, cooked them down, strained them and seasoned them with Italian seasonings, pepper and a pad of butter to make a spicy tomato soup. It was delicious! Cooking is an every day affair at our house, and it helps that I love to cook! Unfortunately, when I cook, there are usually food scraps left to dispose. The tomato skins from making the soup are a great example. Composting is such an important topic, and it not only affects the garden; it affects the kitchen just as much. Follow along for another easy and great way for you to become a composter!

This spring, we will be carrying a “GeoBin Composting System”. The compost bin comes in a box and is ready to set up in your backyard. It is adjustable and will reach 3’ in diameter. The bin is well ventilated, so your compost will be able to work quickly to develop into a rich matter for your garden. To me, it looks like the perfect set up for anyone who wants to start composting but doesn’t want it to be a lot of work or take up a lot of space.

“The Geobin Compost System is the perfect composting solution for today’s eco-minded homeowner. Composting is nature’s way of recycling and the key to healthy soil and a healthy environment. Convert organic materials such as grass clippings, leaves and vegetable scraps into a rich soil conditioner. Not only will you keep your yard clean, but you’ll also be preventing unnecessary waste in our landfills.” (That information is courtesy of the information on the package.)

Stop into either location for a better look at the composting system. The bin is great for anyone to use.

p.s. If anyone wants the recipe for the soup, let me know, and I’ll try to recreate the recipe. I made up the recipe and didn’t exactly measure anything-the upside to cooking and not baking; however, I could probably figure it out. It was delicious and super easy!

Let me know if you have any questions or have an interest in something you'd like to read about. I can be reached at wajasper@sargentsgardens.com.

Enjoy the beautiful weather! Happy Spring!
