Marigolds, balloon flowers, geraniums, zinnias, and snapdragons all made the cut this past weekend. I put together several cut flower arrangements for the LeRoy Flower and Quilt Show. Saturday morning I was up bright and early buzzing through my garden, like a hummingbird, looking for the perfect flowers to put in arrangements for my first show. It took a bit of time, but finally I put together a couple fresh arrangements to be placed in the Crayola Crayon and Kaleidoscope divisions. In comparison to other entries, mine were the best! Well, they were because I sweat over them and weeded around them! There were many beautiful arrangements on display from other LeRoy Garden Club members. My favorite was a metal container decorated with Crayola crayons and the box. It had 3 large sunflowers in it. Not only did I enjoy looking at the flowers, the quilts on display were unbelievable! I also quilt and looking at the variety and splendor of the quilts inspired me. Stop into a flower show near you; they will inspire you to get your pruners out and give you some great ideas on cut flowers to plant in your garden.

When the snow flies, I’ll get out the needle and thread, but until then…look out I’ve got vases to fill!
