Tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, and eggplant are looking great in my garden! Not to mention, basil, peppermint, oregano, thyme, and a few others. This time of year is a favorite of mine. It is so enjoyable and rewarding to step out into the garden and grab a few things for dinner. I tasted my first two cherry tomatoes the other day. They were delicious. Just the other night, I hosted friends over for dinner. I called it my “Herby Party.” Thyme, basil, rosemary, peppermint, chives, and parsley were all introduced to my friends. They especially enjoyed the Stuffed Herby Burgers. Next week, I hope to be making BLTs (Basil, Lettuce, and Tomato.)

Be sure to stop in in the coming weeks and ask me about my garden. I planted several different kinds of heirloom tomatoes this year, and I am very excited to perform several taste tests on friends and co-workers in the coming weeks. In our book section at the North Store, there is a Tomato Festival Cookbook, which I have been looking at lately. It features hundreds of recipes containing heirloom tomatoes. My mouth is watering just thinking about the delicious treats I’ll be making in the coming weeks! Until then…you’ll find me weeding in the garden!
