Jeanne Licari is a MN native and has been drawing and painting ever since childhood.  She had a successful career as a Medical Technologist (BS, U of MN) and quit to follow her passion for art.  Jeanne, both a studio and plein air painter, is a representational artist working mainly in oil, watercolor and charcoal.  She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Palette and Chisel Academy of Chicago and the Outdoor Painters of MN.

Jeanne is an award winning, self-taught artist who has studied with local artists and with regional and national artists in areas beyond Rochester:  U of MN Split Rock Arts Program, Duluth; MN River School of Fine Art, Burnsville; the Atelier, Minneapolis: Minnetonka Center for Fine Arts, Minnetonka; Hurinenko Paquet Studio, St. Paul; the Arts Program in Kauai, Hawaii; Loveland Academy of Fine Art, Loveland, CO; Scottsdale Artists’ School, Scottsdale, AZ; Mary Pettis Studio, Taylor’s Falls, MN; Fredericksburg Artists’ School, Fredericksburg, TX;  the Palette and Chisel, Chicago, IL; Art in the Aspens, Pueblo, CO; Taylor’s Falls artist, Marc Hanson, workshop at Crossings of Zumbrota MN; and the Baumgaertner Portrait Studio, LaCrosse, WI

Jeanne has participated in exhibits and juried shows: the Rochester Art Center; the Rochester Civic Theater; Mayowood; the Minnetonka Center for Fine Arts; the MN River School of Fine Arts in Burnsville; Crossings at Carnegie, Zumbrota; the Burnsville Area Society for the Arts Art Fete; the Rochester Historical Society; the Sherburne County Government Center, Elk River, MN; the Bloomington Art Center, Bloomington, MN; the Savage Art Studios, Savage, MN; the Hopkins Center for the Arts, Hopkins MN; the Edina Art Center, Edina MN; the Siheung, South Korea, Exhibition Hall; the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis, MN, and the Red Wing (MN) Depot Gallery.

“My art reflects the beauty in mankind and in nature.  My paintings are a direct emotional response to what I see, and I want to share those feelings and moment in time with the viewer.  Most of the time I paint from life, as I love to observe the natural colors, forms and patterns of light as they fall on a landscape, still life or the figure.  Artists that inspire me are Sargent, Sorolla, Vermeer, and Rembrandt.   Continually drawing, painting and studying are important to me, as there is always more to learn.”

Jeanne Licari currently shows her oil and watercolor paintings and hand painted watercolor note cards at the Southeast MN Visual Artists (SEMVA) gallery in downtown Rochester on the Peace Plaza.  She also has art in the Double Tree gallery in Rochester and in the Depot Gallery, Red Wing, MN.  Jeanne’s work hangs in the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester and in many private collections in the USA, Japan, Ireland, Kuwait, South Korea, Malaysia, Canada, and Australia.
